Will an Automatic Sprinkler System Use More Water Than I’m Currently Using?

No. in fact, it will conserve water. You’ll never have to worry about runoff from over watering or wasting water when you forget to turn off the hose. And, with a rain sensor, your system will know when it is raining and simply shut itself off when water is not needed.

How Long Will It Take to Install?

A typical installation of 4 – 8 zones should take a day to install. Larger systems may take two days.

Does Having a Sprinkler System Really save Time?

Yes. You won’t have to spend another minute of your valuable leisure time watering the lawn. Your new system will do all of the watering for you – even when you’re away from home.

Will an Automatic Sprinkler System Water as Well as I Can Water by Hand?

How Deep Is Everything and What Happens When I Want to Power Rake or Aerate?

All components of the sprinkler system are installed within the first 8 inches of the ground depending on the terrain. That is, if you have big tree roots or if you have large rocks in the ground the depth of the components may vary. So, if you are digging in your yard you will have to hand excavate until you pass the 6-8 inch level. After that, you are free and clear.


In order for the sprinklers to perform as they have been designed, they must be able to pop up over the height of the grass 3-4 inches. The sprinkler system on the property must be marked with flags prior to power raking or aeration.

Is There a Warranty?

All of our work is guaranteed. College Waterworks Ltd. Warranties all new installations for a period of 5 years provided all servicing is done by College Waterworks. Manufacturers warranty their products for two years but College Waterworks extends this warranty to a period of five years parts and labour included. This warranty is the best in the business.

What Types of Products Do You Use?

Most manufacturers warranty their products for two years. Because College Waterworks Ltd. has been installing quality systems for over 20 years and because our warranties on all new installations for a period of five years parts and labour included, we choose the most robust of products that will last well beyond five years. Our manufacturer by choice is Rain Bird for most major components. Other major manufacturers we use are Hunter, Toro and Irritrol.

Is After-sale Service Provided?

College Waterworks is a full-service company providing year-round services for residential and commercial customers. Examples of after sale service include spring start-up service and winterization service.
